Why Surgery Is Last Resort

Why Surgery Is Last Resort

When you get a surgery you are voluntarily going to get your flesh cut open

Again: when you get a surgery you are VOLUNTARILY GOING TO GET YOUR FLESH CUT OPEN

Do not forget the physical fact of that’s what is ACTUALLY happening

And that we don’t HAVE to normalize that shit

----------------

Really just want to communicate the actual seriousness of a surgery

Because when you’re in a scenario where half your teammates have had one, and every doc and trainer around you is constantly on the lookout for any sign or signal that could indicate towards an MRI, which could then indicate towards a surgery…

It’s easy to get lost in it

Thinking it’s normal and thinking it’s no different than going out for a pizza or going out for lunch

But it is

Can you imagine if you were awake during it? The discomfort you’d feel? The pain you’d have? How much you’d want to get the hell up, run away, and never come back?

There’s a reason you’re knocked out when you get it

It’s cause that thing is really stressful on your system

WHICH ISN’T COMMUNICATED TO YOU IN THE DOC’S OFFICE WHEN IT’S GETTING RECOMMENDED

The magnitude of what it takes to come back from that is not communicated

Think about some other scenario, outside of a surgery, that could or would have that same magnitude

Falling off a cliff and landing and cracking a bone. Having your whole family taken from you. Being tied down and not able to move for 3 days

I dunno we’re getting pretty dark here

Butttt

The point is - we’re not looking to discount a surgery as an everyday procedure, when it’s not

And i don’t think most realize it because it’s seen as just “normal” and the only option

IT’S NOT

Realize how LAST RESORT voluntarily cutting yourself open SHOULD BE

And don’t allow yourself to get pulled into the normalcy that has been created around it

----------------

Or do, i mean i don’t know

To me it just seems ridiculous - how prevalent they are

Like dawg these surgeries are last resorts, not just a normal part of the athletes cycle. Something’s gotta change

Otherwise this phenomena is not gonna change
