What To Do When Things Aren't Going Well

What To Do When Things Aren't Going Well

September 14, 2025

Punishing yourself for not hitting workouts or sessions or for not performing how you want to — or whatever it is — does not work, because what that does is it puts you in a position where you actually don't like yourself, right?  And so the thing that needs to happen in those scenarios where you feel like you're just not doing what it is that you need to do, and it's like over and over and over again, it's just like you're not doing it, you're not doing it, you're not doing it — further punishing yourself is just going to bring you further down into that dwindling spiral, right?  So what we want to do is actually look at what it is that you're doing. Actually, look at what it is that you're doing, that you don't want to do.

Look at those things. Those things that are very difficult to look at, that you don't really want to confront, that you don't want to look at. Look at what those things are. Figure out what it is that you want to do and then actually make the physical decision to do those things that you want to do. Not out of punishment, right? But out of the fact that you know that you're good, you know that you want to do well, you know that you want to survive to a very high level, you know that you want to go out and perform and do the sessions and be responsible and do the things that you say that you want to do, right? You know that that's what you want to do.

So instead of looking at yourself as this person or thing that can't follow through or that can't do the things that you want to do within your training sessions, start to look at what is it that I actually want? What are those things that I need to be honest with myself about? What are these things I'm doing that I don't want to do? Take those out, like actually. Have the courage to take those things out. Do those things that you actually want to do, and then focus on the upward trajectory. Focus on those things that you can create. Focus on the potential, the prosperity, the future, instead of those things that are in the past.

Because as soon as that thing is done, even if it's a bad thing, as soon as that's done, it's gone. It's done. There's nothing else that you can do about it. Put your attention on what you can do going forward and pull yourself up rather than pulling yourself down.
