Training For A Purpose

Training For A Purpose

I remember when i was in 8th grade and there was a touchdown pass i caught and our QB asked how i did that and i had no idea, i just went and did it

Which is funny because following 8th grade, starting in 9th grade for me, it was like i went on a mission of training OUT all of those natural abilities

One of the specific things i did was 2 months straight of max out everyday of squat, bench, dead, and rows - 1 rep max everyday for those

By the end of that thing i was more a board and a brick than I’d ever been

But it was even the way I practiced

Had to get 400 swings in

Had to get 100 ground balls with the odd shaped ball thing

Couldn’t care about anything else

But didn’t get any better

So if you feel like you’re busting your ass and not moving anywhere i get it

And what it took, for me at least, was doing that enough i finally got the point of it’s not really about the work

It’s about the change. It’s about the product, the outcome, the needle moving

Ya know

Not training just to train

But actually training FOR something

And seeing that thing we’re training for move, improve, get better

——————

So we’ll do some weird stuff. One week of joint moves only, for very high amounts

Or thousands of impulses on one day

Or two days off in a row after not having a day off for weeks

Things like that

Cause the goal isn’t to train

It’s to CHANGE

And to change

Well

There needs to be change.
