The Biggest Mistake I Made

The Biggest Mistake I Made

October 9, 2025

One of the biggest mistakes I made was not reaching out to people and not having an actual coach. I thought, “Oh, I can do this all myself. I'll just go through a lot of trial and error over and over. And I'll just try these different things. I'll try to put them together.”

And what that led to, in terms of my actual athletic career, was a lot of wasted time. Five years, where I was trying to figure something out, where I could have asked somebody that I actually already knew. and learn from somebody that I actually already knew and figured it out in three months, right?

I got to a point where I was like, “Okay, I'm actually going to pay people who know what they're doing. I'm going to talk to people. I'm actually going to get information that will further me along faster than just figuring it out myself.”, and that massively accelerated the speed at which I was able to progress.

So I encourage you– If I would have told myself this when I was 15, 16, or 18, If I would have told myself, 'You need to learn from other people, you need to listen more to other people,' I probably would have given myself the middle finger and been like, 'No, I'm not going to do that.' So I completely understand if that's where you're at.

But if you actually legitimately want to get better as fast as you can, learn from those who have had success in the direction that you are wanting to go because they will help to accelerate your process.
