The Benefit Of Actually Being Good

Maybe the best reason to get as good as you possibly can, is simply to give you options. The one who is the absolute best on their team at what they do, whatever it is, is going to be able to train the way that they want. They're going to be able to eat the way that they want. They're going to have much more leeway than the one who is on the fringe.
This is not to say that the one that's on the fringe is bad or the one that's on the fringe cannot do whatever. I understand the one on the fringe; I've been the one on the fringe for basically my whole life. What I'm saying is that if you can get from the point of being on the fringe to being really good, that is going to give you more options.
So don't stop when you've just hit a minimum benchmark, like, "Oh, I got drafted," or, "Oh, I made the team," or, "Oh, I, whatever it is," right? Don't stop when you've hit that minimum benchmark, because if you can actually get to the top of that, your life is going to be so much easier and you're going to have so many more options to actually do, train, eat, talk, whatever, operate the way that you want when you're at the top of that, when you're at the top.
