Stop Being Afraid Of Pain

Something that I'll see a lot with athletes that are in pain is a want or a need to feel like they have to run away or just get out of the pain. Something to understand is that if you've had something happen to your elbow, if you've had something to your shoulder, your knee, your hip, whatever it is, if you're literally just like sitting there in a chair, and it's hurting, there is nothing wrong with you sitting there and it just hurting
Like there is no further damage being created. The thing that caused the damage already happened, right? Whether it was a throw, a lot of throws built up over time, a sprint, whatever it was, that thing already happened. So just sitting there and feeling pain, there's actually nothing wrong with that.
It's just your body telling you, 'Hey, this is what happened and it's giving that signal to you.' But a lot of times, I'll see guys try to run away from that. Like, 'Oh, I have pain. How do I get rid of it? How do I get rid of it? How do I get rid of it?'
And then they're not able to actually feel what's happening because they're just trying to reactively get out of that position. So what we want to do is actually be able to feel and acknowledge the pain that's there, the injury that caused it, so that we can actually address it. So you want to be able to actually look at it, actually feel it, and actually work with that pain versus just trying to be afraid of it, be fearful, and just get out of it. Right?
So it's like, It's okay to have that feedback. It's okay to have that pain. It's okay to have that sensation. Fuel that. Use it to then tell you what we need to do to get out of that.
