Soft Tissue Work For Tight Muscles

Soft Tissue Work For Tight Muscles

If you have a spot on your scap

That needs lacrosse balled every day

And it doesn’t change

Lacrosse balling the area IS NOT SOLVING THE PROBLEM

-----------

If i do something to my tissue that it is not ready for it will tell me through the sensation it gives me

That sensation is provided to me by literal sensors in my tissues that are feeding information up to the brain

When those sensors are getting info that something needs to be adjusted or addressed, the brain will receive that and the response back down will be tightness, inhibition, pain, etc

When i put external pressure on that sensor through a lacrosse ball, foam roller, etc

I am, for a period of time, altering that sensor that is feeding the information up

So then the information the brain receives will be different

So the response it sends back down will be different

--------------

This is why foam rolling or lacrosse ball will, usually, for a period of time make a tissue feel better

Simply because the sensor has been pressed on, which has changed it, and causes you to receive different information

Problem is, as soon as that wears off and the sensor is back online, you’re in the exact same position

20 minutes later you’ll feel the need to rub it out again

And then later that day

And the next day. And the next day. And the next…

You get my point

---------------

Alternate universe…

You train it. You prepare it. You put it in a position to not need to send you that feedback because it is prepared for what you’re going to ask of it

And voila

Lacrosse balls can be used for lacrosse

And foam rollers can be used for head rest nap pads before training sessions

Just like they are supposed to be

-----------------

Btw - if it works for you great

This only for the person it’s not working for
