Soft Tissue Work and Listening to Your Body

Being reliant upon soft tissue work means being reliant upon cutting off receptor feedback to operate

Literally cutting off communication with your body… to be able to use your body.

Your receptor takes in information from your body’s environment

It sends that data up to you

If the information is that of a danger signal

The response back down is tightness

Which is what soft tissue is used to “solve”

By cutting off the receptor

The touch/pressure of the soft tissue work

Sends signals to the brain that are faster than those from pain receptors

So the touch/pressure signal overrides the pain signal

And is why you don’t experience the pain or inhibition sensation when you have the pressure

Remove the pressure, allow the pain receptor to “come back online”, and the danger signal comes right back

Cause the environment that caused it in the first place, has not been handled

This is the mechanism through which soft tissue works

It’s not random

There is a reason it does what it does when you do it

AND there is a reason the need for it is present in the first place


If your internal environment had no danger present, there would be no need to send that signal up, no response back to say lock me down, and no need for soft tissue because there would be no signal that needed to be overridden

Which is why…

Chronic need for soft tissue

Is a chronic need to override danger signals

Point blank.

And this is not for everyone. If you don’t have an issue with it, great

But if you do. If you feel the continual need for soft tissue to override these danger signals to be able to go do your sport or life

Prepare in a way in which your life or sport is not a threat to your body and the environment of your body will not be in danger and will have no need to send up danger signals from the receptors, and so no need to send tightness back down, and no need for any type of soft tissue manipulation

That’s it.

Prepare your body so your body is not in danger and it will not send signals that it’s in danger.
