Sequencing As An Athlete

Sequencing As An Athlete

If we talk about performance one thing we want is each area to be able to work on its own and independently of the rest

Basically what we call the ability to sequence right

So if we take the hip and hamstring curl moves

Intent was not have heaviness build up in the center of the body, but almost like redirect that back into the tissue i am wanting to use

Don’t know if y’all have felt this

But like when doing the hip flexor move I noticed that once fatigue started to hit, i would get more tension in the chest area and tighten up more. So then there was like tension there where it didn’t need to be and it made me feel tighter and like i could not recover as well from the work

but then if i took and redirected that down into the leg - where it’s literally like i am actually moving the hip aggressively and it’s causing no extra tension to travel up and fatigue me

Then it was like this blanket of restriction was taken off

Didn’t really figure it out that well for the knee moves - felt like i couldn’t really fully engage those yet

But did feel it more on the sprints

Where things were more independent - meaning i could actually USE my hips - like aggressively pull the hips to drive the sprint WITHOUT getting tense and causing more stress and lack of recovery

But rather it was like stay clean and easy in the middle so those extremities could work

I don’t it was a bit weird - cause it wasn’t like passive or hold back in the middle, just redirect and still full intent but into what was more efficient to use

Almost like the hips i could use like my shoulders lol - that good of control

But i think that’s where efficiency can get to

You can aggressively use the hip, lets say for example, and actually not tire out cause you’re just using that flexor and glute, which recover each other as you go back and forth and alternate between em
