Prepared Beyond Dry Needles

Prepared Beyond Dry Needles

The more you have to dry needle

The less prepared your system is for what you’re asking it to do

So i know we looooovvvvveeeeeee the dry needle

Butttt how bout we make it a goal to just never need the thing

And i mean you don’t have to but here’s my logic

What dry needling does is release trigger points

Trigger points are areas of bunched up tissue holding tension that form as an effect of something that was done

The reason that a trigger point forms is because your body had some non optimal response to what you did

For example

Let’s say you go throw a 50 pitch pen

Medial forearm feels eh

Get dry needling done

Ahhhhhh

Releases the tension (yes that will make it feel good)

Great

But there’s still something you weren’t prepared for that caused the trigger point to have to form in the first place. THE TRIGGER POINT WOULDN’T BE THERE IF IT DIDN’T HAVE TO BE THERE

And it’s not even that dry needing is “bad” really

It’s more just that like dude if you have to run to the dry needler every week after doing whatever it is that you do

Then your system is telling you you’re not ready for what you’re doing

Cause healthy and prepared tissue that’s functioning well does not form trigger points that need to be released

It just doesn’t. It stays at length and works how it’s supposed to. Period.

But the body getting messed up (trigger points forming) is just seen as a side effect of performance or training… When it doesn’t have to be

Like you have control over whether these things (the trigger points in this case) form or not

By what you do and how you do them

Just because “everyone does it” (gets trigger points and has to dry needle to release it)

Doesn’t mean it’s ideal or best case scenario, cha feel???

-----------------

So to me it’s more like alright great, the trigger point forming is feedback from your system that is informing you on how you’re doing in terms of preparation

Instead of looking at it as “ah dang this annoying knot again”

How bout we put yourself in the body’s position one time and be like “ah man this guy keeps yanking on me without being ready”

And make a change to where you’re actually ready for whatever yanking on it you’re going to do

And trust me i get it too

Like sometimes performance needs to happen, you need to handle the tissue, etc etc

But understand that to some extent when you do that, you’ll have to makeup the ground later. Like you can keep doing that (the treatments for things you did but weren’t prepared for) but at some point the body gonna get irritated enough where it’s like ight i tried to tell you once, then a hundred times and nothing changed so here’s something bigger, and then bigger, and bigger - etc etc etc (as in body will start small with feedback it gives you, if not listened to that will get more and more extreme to get your attention to change something)

----------------

And not at all meant to scare

More so to inform of how the body works

That trigger points or other feedback aren’t just annoyances (although i understand they CAN be annoying lol) - but are actually data

And if you don’t get super emotional about it, it actually gives you everything you need to know for how to adjust and move forward THROUGH that data it’s giving you

First step is probs just be okay with not feeling perfect all the time. Anytime you’re in pain it’s an after effect anyway - like you already did the thing that caused the pain

It’s not just eating away at you as you sit there if you have a bit of pain

So if you can understand and trust that, quiet yourself down a bit and actually feel and work with it

Won’t be needing to run around poking holes in yourself all the time

And body will function better once more effective prep is put into place
