How To Change Yourself Into A Different Type Of Athlete

To change your tissue you have to be aware of what your tissue is doing


So if you’re running around all the time completely unaware of what you’re doing, how you’re moving, tension you have or don’t have

You’re going to simply build mass on top of patterns you already use

If you attempt to get into the spine position above, and somehow, in some way, actually use your tissue differently in that position

But you cannot get settled enough to actually be aware of your tissue

Then you will not know what you are doing, and you’ll be simply and blindly, just “doing the exercise”

So lets make real why this matters

If you’re a pitcher that wants to be able to use your spine more fully

And you’re given 3 spinal exercises to do everyday

But you cannot get into the moves and actually be aware of what’s happening in them

You’ll simply continue to move the spine the same way, day after day

Literally: if you cannot feel the fact that when you bend to the right your left QL area feels like a rope, and instead simply are like “i dunno this is all my spine will do”

Then your spine is going to continue to be a rope - cause YOU’RE NOT EVEN AWARE IT’S A ROPE IN THE FIRST PLACE - you just know you can’t move it as much as you want

So it takes actual feel and awareness and attention

WHILE YOU’RE IN THE MOVE - asking yourself: what is limiting me - if my QL feels like a rope, how do i get that tissue to lengthen, to not have to fire, to allow it to fire the OPPOSITE way so the rope is not so taut?

YES this will be harder. It will take more effort. It will take more awareness. It will take you actually being present. It will take you making the decision to understand this for yourself

But that’s the point

Cause what you want to do - change your whole life, preparation, performance - WILL TAKE MORE ENERGY, EFFORT, AND AWARENESS
