High Force Training For Speed Development
Share
I think we’re probably not that good at developing speed cause we just don’t do enough actual high impact work
It’s usually seen as dangerous
The impulses, hyper work i post, even some of this (the video in this article) will probably be seen as dangerous
Response will be “isn’t that going to tear up your joints”
But that’s what speed is
I don’t mean tearing up your joints - speed does not tear up your joints
But i mean it’s high impact. It’s intense. There is a lot of force and a lot of load going into the system all at once at a very rapid rate
And since training so often leads towards the “be safe” end of the spectrum
Work that can actually develop that i think tends to be shied away from
And i don’t think training in this way has to be dangerous. In fact i don’t think it SHOULD be - training in a way you know is dangerous doesn’t make any sense
But also not doing any of this type of work - where the tissue is asked to rapidly accept very high amounts of force - also doesn’t make much sense
Cause that’s mostly what sport and life is
Which simply means we have to implement it intelligently
