Difficult Is What We Prepare For

If you’re desiring to control the positions that you get into
Then you need to control the positions you get into
And if you desire to do that under high amounts of stress
Then you need to do that under high amounts of stress
And if you want to continue to be able to do that for longer periods of time - high intensity plus high volume - ya know like 150 pitches every 5th day, game once a week for 16 weeks, serve after serve - like whatever that is for you - if you want to be able to continue to do that, then we need to put yourself into a position where you do not lose the ability to continue to do that
Putting yourself into a position you lose the ability to do that starts with your viewpoint of the exercise
Viewpoint meaning quite literally from where and how you look at it
If your literal viewpoint of an exercise is that it is difficult and it is stressful and it makes you tired
Then you have no chance of it not breaking you down and NOT making you tired because you put the idea there for that to be the case
And i mean this quite literally
If you picture yourself looking at a picture - like you’re just sitting there looking at a picture on the wall - and you think that doing that is going to make you tired, that will be different than if you picture yourself looking at the exact same picture but you get to the point you love the freaking picture and it shoots energy into your system
See we create, to some degree - the degree we are aware - the effect the things we do have on us
So now if we go back to the lateral glute ham move
If i am viewing that “picture” of me doing the glute ham as fatiguing and tiring, that is what it will create - if i am view it as energizing and recovering - then that is what it has the potential to create
And then if we tie that back into what we first said - bout being able to repeat high intensity and volumes for your sport or life
The viewpoint of what we’re doing plays a massive role in it
