Better Positions For Throwers

Better Positions For Throwers

July 28, 2025

So the reason that being in position is important is because it allows us to actually use our contractile tissue on the joints in the way that they were designed to be used.

So specifically, like what that means is: let's say you're throwing and you want your arm to be able to flip up behind you as deep as you can and be able to accelerate out of that.

If there's tissue on the front side, if there's tissue in the pec, if there's tissue and that pec minor that is causing or that is contracting and won't actually lengthen, that means that you're not going to be able to flip up in as deep of a position as you can. You're not going to be able to accelerate from as deep of a position as you can.

So, practically, what being in position allows to happen is your muscle tissue, your contractile tissue acts on the joints in the way that it's designed to move, which means that it can fully shorten, it can fully lengthen, and it can allow you to access all the range that you have at each joint.
